Age is just a number and has got nothing to do with your desire to make yourself look beautiful. While a few things change in your skin as you grow older, simple tips suiting mature skin goes a long way in making you look and feel gorgeous. The wedding season is here and makeup consultant Dipthi Aashok, who will be doing a make-up workshop for senior members of Silver Talkies, shared some easy-to-do make-up tips for mature skin with us.

Aashok started her career with MAC cosmetics in 2007 as a make-up consultant. She has been trained under Mickey Contractor, Vimi Joshi and other renowned industry professionals. She believes that every woman is beautiful and has the right to be beautiful, no matter what her age or size or colour is. So, what are you waiting for? Follow these easy-to-do make-up tips and flaunt your look at the next wedding party.

Make your skin ready: Prepping the skin is important. Start with a hydrating moisturiser followed by a primer. Primer helps minimise pores and fine liner. Primer also helps in the longevity of the makeup. Make sure you use a sunscreen as well. Most moisturisers or primers have an inbuilt sunscreen these days.

Do this smart brow work: As we age, our brows tend to stop growing back after waxing and tweezing. They also start to sprout some unwanted greys throughout. A brow gel, similar to mascara, but with much less opacity, is the perfect fix. Take the brow gel wand and brush throughout brows in an upward and outward motion to fill in sparse spots and to coat greys.

Choose an appropriate foundation: Use a creamy or satin finish foundation for a natural look. Move the foundation outward from the centre of the face and blend well using a damp beauty blender or a brush.

Go for a smart eye look: Eyelids have wrinkles and are more hooded making it much more difficult than to just swipe a pencil smoothly across the lid and go. Try dotting a pencil along the upper lash line and smudge with a brush or q-tip tool.

Skip face powder: Face powder makes the skin look dry, hence, avoid it. A little press powder can be used to set concealer under the eye if using.

Cream blush is must: A cream blush is always better for mature skin instead of powdered blush. Go for a cream blush always if you wish to use blush.

Opt for softer eye colours: It is wise to use softer colours for the eyes, instead of bright colours. Softer colours bring a soothing touch to your eyes and make them perfectly fit your mature skin.

Use a lip liner: With growing age, the lip shape may lose its prominence and may not carry the lip colour well. It is wise to use a lip liner for a defined lip and to play up the lip colour adequately.

These eight simple make-up hacks can help you get gorgeous in very less time. Whichever you decide to go for, each of them is suitable for mature skin and the occasion you are attending. Looking good never stops so get going!
